The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has been agreed upon by the European Union in response to the pandemic crisis. The main component of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) program is the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), for the 2021-2026 six-year period with a total size of €672,5 billion (€312,5 billion as subsidies and the remaining €360 billion as low-interest loans).
The plan has three strategic axes shared at European level: digitalization and innovation, ecological transition, and social inclusion, structured into six missions:
- Digitalization, Innovation, Competitiveness, Culture
- Green Revolution and Ecological Transition
- Infrastructure for Sustainable Mobility
- Education and Research
- Inclusion and Cohesion
- Health
Within the plan, approximately €15 billion are allocated to the MUR for investments in universities, AFAM institutions, fundamental and applied research, and for the innovation and technology transfer processes outlined in the 4th Mission “Education and Research.”
